Is that where it's expected? Try a symbolic link from
/usr/lib/sasl2/ to /usr/local/lib/sasl2

I've got it working with "pwcheck_method: saslauthd" and running
"saslauthd -a pam".

Shouldn't that be "auth sufficient"?
