That's somehow confusing. sendmail.cf doesn't have "pwcheck-method".

It seems DIGEST-MD5 and CRAM-MD5 are offered, so it is either
a client problem or an interoperability problem. See the WWW
page for more hints about debugging, e.g., use -X log.
